CLUB MEETING 18th APRIL 2016
PRESIDENT CHRIS SUTTON welcomed members and guest John Hammond from R.C. Shepparton South.
Another busy week.
  • Breakfast committee meeting last Tuesday. All on track, organisation going well.
  • Eddie Eagle film launch for Polio Plus a sell out.
  • Orange Juice machine at Lions Market realised $278.
  • Show & Shine R.C. Nathalia a great day, well supported. BBQ took $1745 and made a profit of $976
  • Next week no meeting due to Anzac Day.
  • RSL Gunfire BBQ at 5.30am.
  • Combined Service Club meeting May 9th at Numurkah Bowling Club.
CHAIR: P.P. JUNE HEWSON
Nothing much has changed in business.
Attended a family reunion over the weekend at Hillston, NSW.
Introduced guest speakers from club, reporting on District Assembly.
 
GUEST SPEAKERS:
Phil Meagher: Participated in the Club Administration session. Topics covered included:
Push for Rotary Leadership Institute, recommending for all members.
District Awards, Significant Achievement Award for club projects, Club Website Award.
District Shared Services, e.g. District Website.
District Website training. Request to record volunteer hours on District website.
District Historian available to assist club to maintain a record of their history,
Special Certificates available.
Reservation and ticketing services such as "Try Booking".
Clubs to develop a Strategic Plan.
Charter of Protection developed which encourages members to undertake a "Working with Children Check".
On to World Convention Atlanta USA.
 
Chris Sutton:
Introduced new DG and his board.
Participated in Membership session. Topics covered included:
Health of Club Survey, Talk more about membership, Healthy meetings engaging all members, look at protocols, Retention of members, Exit Survey.
Engaging new members with new members projects to involve instantly. Mentors for new members.
Identify new prospective members.
August is membership month.
Publicity, Alumni, Facebook promotions, P.R. also touched on.
 
John Watson:
Clubs are autonomous under guidelines from Rotary International. 35,000 clubs with 1.2 million members, 530 Districts and 34 Zones.
Foundation has $85M US  contributed annually, used on projects around the world such as the eradication of Polio.
Importance of vibrant clubs. Aim to have every member with a Working with Children certificate.
District Conference in Shepparton.
Getting to know how Rotary works and where to go for assistance.
 
 

REPORTS

SECRETARY PHIL MEAGHER:
Letter of thanks from Numurkah Primary School for Rotary sponsorship of $400 for bussing 11 students to Young Leaders Program.
Letter included comments on program from several students who attended.
 
P.E. JOHN WATSON:
Life Education Van visits schools in region. Rotary can assist in moving bus from school to school in district.
 
P.P. TERRY BRENNAN:
R.C. Nathalia Show & Shine very successful, featured "Fletch".
 
  
 
P.P. PHIL SEAGER:
4WD Trip realised a profit of $5869.40. 62 participated with income of $7,500 and expenses of $1,700.
In 11 years $49,580 has been raised for Rotary.
 
LORRAINE GREENWOOD:
Exchange student Zoe back from Safari on Saturday and will be hosted by Jennifer Rodger. Zoe will attend Anzac Day service, Numurkah Secondary College on Tuesday, departing Wednesday.
Lorraine acknowledged the work done by President Chris over weekend by spending all morning at Lions Market on Saturday then again all day on Sunday at Show & Shine in Nathalia.
 
JACQUE PHILLIPS:
Attended second day of Rotary Leadership Institute on Sunday.
Numurkah District Health Service has launched a new website.
 
ATTENDANCE:
Sharyn Griffiths reported an attendance of 28. Apologies from Kate Hodge, Jason & Julie Andrew, Dianne Hill, Sieg Seiter. 84.85%
 
FELLOWSHIP:
Linda Boyd reported Stephen Mills birthday April 22nd, Jason & Julie Andrew wedding anniversary April 20th. Induction of Lorraine Greenwood recorded as April 23rd. To be amended to June 4th. 4 years in Rotary
