Grace –Terry Brennan
President –John Watson
Introducing of guests – Grant Deppler
Chairperson–John Watson

President’s report – Combined Lions & Rotary meeting 9th January will be a Bowls Night & Barbeque at Numurkah Bowling Club. Our Christmas Breakup will be held at Numurkah Bowls Club on Sunday 11th December 6.30 start. Thank you to those who sold raffle tickets at Show Us Your Wheels. Bendigo Bank Community Grants to be held on 16th December, Rotary to do barbeque whilst grants are being awarded. My Rotary – each individual or group draws members from the community who must contribute to the community in kind – after all community service is one of the 5 services of Rotary. A community service project must address a real community need. Tonight is an Assembly Night & Planning Night for the future.

Chairman of Club Administration Committee – Phil Meagher.

Changes have been made to Rotary guidelines 117 enactments – 14 passed & adopted, some of these changes affect us directly. Increases in fees per capita – starting at $28/US per half year. Proviso that Rotary meets at least twice per month, individual clubs can dictate how often they have meetings. Changes shouldn’t affect our club too much. Certain members would like to go back to club having a formal head table, John to consider this.

President – John Watson
Club Administration Account is fed by member fees, extra $3 charged for those coming to a meeting & fines tin, we need to increase the fees to cover the costs that come out of these funds.

Sue Fisher discussed the Administration Account which has the orange juice proceeds contributing to the account which may cover the costs in the Administration Account. Advent Calendar has so far raised $2800 after expenses, Sieg Seiter expects to give Sue figures for recent sales to increase this figure, car raffle so far raised $1780 of which we get to keep 50%. 4 Wheel Drive weekend, Art Show are still fund raising events to come. It is possible that the Member’s Subs may need to increase in the future. Currently the rate is $270 cost/member including insurance etc – current deficit $70/member.

Chris Sutton discussed Orange Juice stall at Lions Market on 17th December. Membership plan 3.5 new members, Squish to join next week, Grant Deppler has expressed an interest to join plus another new member could be interested. Looking at having a welcoming night for new teachers that are coming to the community. An apprentice of the year award that could be sponsored by Jeff Buzza. Changes for the future for club leadership needs to be planned early on to help the survival of the club. We need a pool of people trained up willing to take on roles.

Jacque Phillips discussed funding project for educating primary school children in eating & exercises to prevent chronic diseases in the future. She is working with the Shire to try & tap into young professionals who may help with membership.

Lorraine Greenwood reported from RLI that a member from Corowa talked about Donations in Kind & needs support from other Clubs to get it off the ground. Jacqui Phillips reported that the local Hospital made a substantial contribution to the Donations in Kind delivered to Melbourne thanks to the assistance of Roger Seiter with transportation.

Grant Deppler talked about how he did the Kakoda Pass earlier this year with Tori Pitt’s Interplast Charity. He is now fund raising to go to Everest Base Camp in May next year & has already raised $2,500 for his $5,000 goal – he is hoping that Rotary may be interested in assisting.

Steve Mills discussed planting 600 trees on his farm sometime next year which could be a fund raiser for the club. Soldier Settlement Project progressing well with research gathering of all the names of soldier settlers & the history in the district. Cross referencing is being done with the soldier settlement map, however they have found some inconsistencies between the map & local plaques. A History Wall is expected to be created. Sponsorship will need to be sourced to fund the project.

Heather Kelly has requested a financial contribution to Carols by Candlelight together with our barbeque on the 23rd December.

AFRICAN ROULETTE

The new American ambassador was being entertained by an African diplomat. They'd spent the day discussing what the country had received from the Russians before the new government kicked them out.

"The Russians built us a power plant, a highway, and an airport. Plus we learned to drink vodka and play Russian roulette."

The American frowned. "Russian roulette's not a very nice game."

The diplomat smiled. "That's why we developed African roulette. If you want to have good relations with our country, you'll have to play. I'II show you how."

He pushed a buzzer, and a moment later six magnificently built, nude women were ushered in. "You can choose any one of those women to give you oral sex," he told the American.

"That's great," the ambassador said. "That doesn't seem much like Russian roulette."

"Oh, it is. One of them is a cannibal."
