CLUB MEETING 11th APRIL 2016
President - Chris Sutton welcomed members and guest Tony Mills and welcome back Adrian Connolly.
  • Congratulations to Sharyn Griffiths on her 50th birthday.
  • 4WD Trip was a fantastic weekend, congratulations to committee.
  • BBQ at Home Hardware raised funds for Pip Cowan.
  • District Assembly well attended with over 320.
  • Combined Service Clubs Dinner will be on 9th May at Bowling Club. Catering by The Butlers Pantry at $24 a head. Program will be the re-airing of the Numurkah Economic Strategic Plan.
  • Handover Dinner approaching, nominations for the Vocational Service Award and Community Service Award to be in by 1st June.
  • Business Breakfast meeting at Kate Hodge's Tuesday night at 7pm.
  • "Eddie the Eagle" film launch a polio plus fund raiser.
  • Meals On Wheels this Friday. Meet at Hospital at 11.25 am.
  • Saturday Lions Market, Orange Juice Machine to be manned.
  • Sunday Nathalia Rotary Show & Shine motor show. Catering required from 7am with breakfast of egg and bacon rolls, then move on to sausages, hamburgers etc.
  • Wayne Limbrick organising "East Coast Golf Classic" as a fundraiser for the Umoja Orphanage in Kenya. 18 days commencing in Shepparton finishing in Bundaberg.

Still involved in Irrigation Management.
Dairy production is picking up, with water ownership changing.
How does Australia fit in the world of irrigation?
Australia less then 1% of world irrigation, with very low stream flows.
More land under urban development than under irrigation.
2/3 of run off in tropical zone and only 6% in the Murray-Darling Basin..
Australia has the most variable river flows in the world.
Available water is heavily used - relatively small volume left to ensure healthy river.
Australia admired world-wide for the management and infrastructure of irrigation system
Metered allocation to irrigators 30% loss. Meter error 10%, Outfalls 10%, Leakage 10%. Evaporation and seepage small.
Modernisation efficiency target 85%.

Nominations for Vocational Service and Community Service Awards required for outstanding service to the community in these fields.

4WD trip had 62 participants, 8 of whom were Rotarians. Great time with excellent weather, fantastic food and good times.

Thanks for the slices and cakes supplied by members for the 4WD trip.
 
Jennifer Rodger:
First time on 4WD trip, a little apprehensive but was very impressed, the food was outstanding, nights entertainment excellent and incredibly well organised.
 
P.P. Lou Hamon:
On behalf of the committee, Lou thanked the members and Rotariannes for their support in making the Art & Craft Show such a success.
Special thank you to Sue working on the books and coordinating the catering.
Accounts still coming in, but a good financial result is expected.
Lou also thanked Jennifer Rodgers for her comprehensive report on last meeting, which he included in template and published whist on holidays in Surfers Paradise.
Also did the same for Deniliquin Rotary club to assist them out whilst their editor was on holidays.
 
Lorraine Greenwood:
Spent a weekend in Melbourne with exchange student Zoe. Remarkable young lady who is trying to read and speak only English whilst in Australia. Now on Safari.

Fellowship report – Linda Boyd:
One birthday Alastair Whittington April 13th.
Attended District Assembly and found it very enlightening. Interested to hear what other clubs were doing and thus gaining ideas from them.
