CLUB MEETING 6th JUNE 2016
PRESIDENT CHRIS SUTTON welcomed members and guest Reno Lia, guest speaker.
  • Count down to breakfast. 236 booked. Sam speaking to Numurkah Primary & St Josephs Primary Schools, Numurkah, Cobram and Nathalia Secondary Colleges on Thursday and now Shepparton High School on Friday morning.
  • On Friday facilitated a workshop which included a virtual reality presentation.
  • NFC Sponsors day VIP passes.
  • NDHS Gala Ball 9th July.
  • Men's Health Week June 13 - 19 2016
  • Combined old and new board meeting tonight to consider awards and disbursements.
  • No meeting next week. Queen's Birthday Holiday.
 
CHAIR: SIEG SEITER:
Enjoyed a cruise to PNG and Solomon Islands.
Visited Marilyn Munro Exhibition in Bendigo on Betty's birthday.
Numurkah needs an icon - large, historic and different to others.
Update on Town Entrance structures - awaiting Shire permits. Attended 8 different meetings, all gave their support for project.
 
GUEST SPEAKER:

Reno Lia

Reno born in Numurkah at 14 recruited by South Melbourne Hellas Soccer Club. Left home and lived with a Greek family.
Represented Australia in U15 and at U19 level, tried out with Manchester United.
Soccer playing career ended when 28 and started coaching for 19 years.
Now Technical Director of G.V. Suns franchise.
Started an academy which is affiliated with Melbourne City A League team.
Academy program to teach - technical skills & ability - injury prevention, nutrition.
Promoting FootGolf, a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf.
Launched at Murchison, now commencing in Numurkah.
To play FootGolf use soccer balls on a traditional golf course with 21 inch diameter cups.
Rules are a combination of golf and soccer rules.
Game has potential to introduce golf to younger player.
What can FoofGolf do for Numurkah? Why Numurkah?
Course appealing, golf club people have passion.
Plan is to establish school events, open days, all age tournaments and a corporate event.

P.E. JOHN WATSON:
With Jacque Phillips completed RLI course, now inducted.
Rotary Leadership Institute is run on three half days and highly recommended as learn all about Rotary plus networking opportunities.
 
JEFF BUZZA:
Historical Society enquiry about plaques on the steam train.
Today at Numurkah Secondary College, Jennifer, Kate, Gary and Jeff took part in the Speed Grill to assist students preparing for workplace interviews.
 
P.P. KATE HODGE:
Sam Bailey Breakfast puts the club out there to the public.
Please book and encourage others.
Set-up tables and chairs 2pm - 4pm, Set tables 4pm - 6 pm on Wednesday.
Thursday full club support needed to assist with catering from 6am, door, ushering, doorkeeper and clean-up after the event.
Please wear club blue shirt to event to enable recognition.
 
P.P. LOU HAMON:
Beside newspaper press releases and advertisements, radio community service announcements conducted a Facebook campaign in Numurkah, Nathalia, Cobram and Shepparton.
2,525 people reached with 65 "Likes" and 23 "Shares".
Also emailed all club presidents and secretaries in District.

Organising a Rotary table at breakfast for Rotarians.

Linda Boys reported that Terry Brennan would have been in Rotary for 41 years on 9th June.
