“There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.”

Recently when I stumbled across this famous quote, it struck more of a chord to me than ever before. It had that sense of awakening itself and screaming out to me.
Those that know me, know that this has been on my mind for sometime but it has taken courage and honesty to make that final decision. Now I can say with great pride and excitement that I am retiring as a professional cyclist.

t has been an amazing chapter in my life and one which I can’t even try to describe on paper. I will carry fond memories for the rest of my life of the beautiful moments and special friendships that I’ve formed.

It’s been immensely challenging and I’ve fought many physical and mental battles along the way. But I’m extremely proud of my achievements, both in personal successes and as a domestic to some of the worlds best female cyclists. I’ll especially remember becoming dual national champion in 2009 and carrying the national colors on my back during that season in Europe.

The best thing now is I don’t know exactly what awaits me and that excites me. I plan to finish my studies in Business(Sports Management) this coming June and further move into a ‘new’ career. But what I do know is I’m ready to accept this next chapter with wide open arms.
I’ll always continue to ride my bike, but maybe followed by a beer rather than a protein shake. I’m looking forward to pursuing my other hobbies as well like running.

I feel so blessed to have been introduced into a sport which has truly shaped my life. Thanks to everyone who I’ve had the privilege to be connected with along this journey.
