Phillip has been a member of the Numurkah community since 1965 when he and his family moved to Numurkah. From day one he became a very vibrant and active community member.
He purchased and ran the Numurkah Motel for 11 years and immediately became a member of the Numurkah Chamber of Commerce and Numurkah District Tourism Association.
Philip joined the Rotary Club of Numurkah and is still an active member. He has served on the Rotary Clubs Board for 12 years serving as secretary for 9 years. The club awarded Phillip, Rotary’s highest honour, the Paul Harris Fellowship, for his commitment and service to the community and Rotary.
He was a member of the Numurkah Youth Cricket Club, serving as secretary/treasurer for four years, and assisted with junior cricket for six years.
Philip is a member of the Numurkah District Soccer Club and has served two years as secretary and a further two years as treasurer.
He was a member of the Board of Management of Numurkah Occupational and Vocational Adults Service (NOVAS), holding the position of chairman and vice-chairman for 11 years.
Philip has been a member of the Numurkah and District Development Committee for the past 12 years, holding the position of treasurer for the last six years.
He was a member of the Numurkah Skate Park Committee and assisted in bringing the project to a satisfactory conclusion.
Philip is a member of the Numurkah Senior Citizens Hub Redevelopment Committee, which oversaw the development from concept to conclusion. He is also serving on the Senior Citizens Hub Transition Committee developing a management model for the Senior Citizens Hub.
He is a member of the Numurkah Men’s Shed, holding the position of secretary/co-ordinator/purchasing officer and building development co-ordinator.
Philip is a member of the Numurkah Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, holding the position of cricket representative for four years, and now the soccer club representative for four years. He has been secretary and now secretary/treasurer for the past four years.
He is a member of the Numurkah Showgrounds Community Sports Group serving as secretary/treasurer and is currently nominee of the group.
Philip gives his time assisting local groups with grant applications and has been successful over the years of obtaining grants for the following groups: Numurkah Bowls Club, Numurkah Soccer Club, Numurkah Youth Club Cricket Club, Numurkah Men’s Shed, Rotary Club of Numurkah and Numurkah CFA.
He is also a member of the Numurkah and District Australia Day Committee, serving as chairman and event organiser for the past five years.
