CHAIRMAN: P.P. ALLEN CANOBIE
Busy last 12 months with "shack" in city nearing completion.
Chair of Combined Probus Club. Not a service club but a club of fun and fellowship for senior active retirees.
GUEST SPEAKER:
Tom Brown
Tom Brown is Environmental Sustainability Officer with Moira Shire.
Shire spends $1M each year on electricity and only 19% of houses in Moira Shire have solar panels.
Looking at ways to stimulate regional development of renewable energy.
Received grant for virtual renewable power station to feed into grid for Moira Shire use.
Concept of Solar Community Garden where MSC and homes without solar, instead of selling back to grid, share power generated. Moira Shire and community would be stakeholders with a community co-op to run.
Technically and legally feasible. Plan to be taken to Council, if supported will apply for government funding.
Need to gather enough momentum for community to participate in.
