CLUB MEETING 15th JANUARY 2018
PRESIDENT JACQUE PHILLIPS welcomed members wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
- Thanks to Linda & John Watson for hosting the clubs Christmas breakup.
- Christmas Carols BBQ busy with event well attended, thanks to all who assisted.
- Advent Calendars concluded with 96 winners phoned. Discussion on Advent Calendat after Art Show,
- Combined BBQ with Lions, a total of 66 attended, 45 Lions and 21 Rotarians. Thanks to Geoff Holmes and Gary Phillips for ther preparation.
- Rotary BBQ has been cleaned ready for the new year.
CHAIR: ALLEN CANOBIE.
Advised of impending operation on elbow after fall, warning will not be able to hang, only offer advice at art show.
Allen outlined procedure for discussion on proposal to change meeting venue, with a speaker for proposal to be followed by a speaker against the proposal.
President Jacque outlined the back-ground to change of venue with menu options to cater for dietary requirements the main reason.
Feed back to email ranged from members wishing to change to those wishing to stay at Golf Club, to other members stating not an important issue with them. Coming through in feedback was desire to maintain goodwill.
Hopefully a concensus can be reached, if not option for a secret ballot.
Allen then facilitated discussion.
- For proposal to change venue: Dietary requirements, as a diabetic dietary requirements not met.
- Against proposal: Shamrock like a barn need to leave room for drinks at a public bar and noise from adjoining dinning area. At Golf Club have intimate surroundings and own bar.
- For: Do not like meals at Golf Club.
- Against: Profile will not be higher in back room of Shamrock, bigger functions can be held in back room of Golf Club.
- For: Meal choice up to individual.
- Neutral: Suggest trial at suggested venue before a decision is made.
- For: Process taken to this point should not be criticised. Share meeting place around.
- Comment: Process open with opportunity for all to have a say.
- Comment: Change of venue to see vocational businesses.
- Comment: Simple issue, hopefully not upsetting some members
- Comment: If stay at Golf Club need to negotiate dietary needs.
RESOLUTION:
Three month trial with meetings to be held at both venues, both Shamrock and Golf Club would be on trial.
PRESIDENT JACQUE continued Club Assembly.
Business Breakfast unable to secure guest speaker at a reasonable cost, suggested hols Business Breakfast on alternate years with next in 2019.
Alternate this year is to hold a lunch with a focus on men's health issues, particularly in dairy industry. This would be run in conjunction with Numurkah District Health.

LINDA BOYD:
Portsea Camp has 22 attendees through Rotary, 2 from RSL and 2 from Nathalia.
Next round in debate will be on 15th February at Euroa.
PALS new Op Shop, across the road now open. Needing clothing, bric a brac, and furniture.
KATE HODGE:
Prospective member to attend next week.
Have 5 "Friends of Rotary".
STEVE MILLS:
Art Show raffle books to be distributed next week, selling in street to commence 1st February alternating between Amcal and IGA businewsses. Roster to be on Club Runner.
Soldier Settlement project on track.
ADRIAN CONNOLLY:
Treasurer Adrian gave a financial report.
JEFF BUZZA:
Vocational visits planned, possibly to Katunga Fresh and Benchmark Kitchens.
JULIE ANDREW:
Reporting on Umoja Orphanage, $10,000 raised with the caravan raffle. Six children have started school.
Attended St Mary's and Katunga Primary school awards.
Next major Rotary project will be "RAM" Rotary against Malaria with aim to reduce malaria by 90% by 2030.
LOU HAMON:
Art Show report: Art Judge Ted Dansey, Terry planning sponsorship to be undertaken by a dedicated team. Committee to discuss options on catalogue format. Phil Seager has obtained quotes for an advertising banner across bridge. Entry forms posted and emailed with one entry.
Art & Craft Committee meeting next Monday after Rotary, 22nd January to discuss above.
Australia Day Friday 26th January. Rotary asked to cook breakfast. Breakfast commences at 8 am with ceremony at 9 am. Rotarians would be needed from 7.30 am. Jessica Lorraine will provide the entertainment.

Attended opening of Liberty Swing in Deniliquin,, a project by Rotary, Lions and RSL.
Yea ride, and Vice-Regal Reception at Government House.
Conference at Yarrawonga this year.
IVAN ROUTLEY:
4WD trip with options of proposed dates: 23/24/25 March or 13/14/15 April.
PRESIDENT JACQUE concluded the meeting advising Squish had represented club at both the Numurkah Secondary College and Numukah Primary awards night.
Board meeting 5th February.
Combined service clubs meeting 14th May.
