CLUB MEETING 28th FEBRUARY 2022


PRESIDENT GARY PHILLIPS welcomed members and guests, Nicole Wells, Renee McDermott, June Hewson.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:

  • Community Aged Care Bus Project Launch very successful with several hundred people drifting in and out. Thanks to John Watson as MC, Squish and Town Band and the Ukulele Club, BBQ cooks and servers. Special thanks to Marissa from NCN Health.
  • District proposed budget circulated.

CHAIR: JEFF BUZZA.

Business celebrating 12th birthday tomorrow, opening in 2010, has been a big journey. Now opened a Stihl Dealership. Business has been difficult coping with changing COVID regulations and now supply issues.

GUEST SPEAKER: NICOLE WELLS.

 
Nicole Wells, Community Development Officer with NCN Health, spoke to the club about the Farm Community Connect Project.
Project managed by Deakin University with partnerships Moira and Strathbogie Shires.
Farm Community Connect Project supports farmers and farming families many who have lost connection and do not seek support, as well as supporting women and children.
Isolation and remoteness causing 56% Victorian farmers feeling they could cope.
Aim of project is to build resilience, develop social networks and foster a sense of belonging.
Intention is to deliver social events, family fun days and on farm workshops.
Rotary can support Farm Community Connect by volunteering support at activities and events, promote activities, catering at events and activities,

SECRETARY JENNIFER RODGER:

Numurkah Fun Run this Sunday. Rotary to provide marshals.

Reminder District Conference.

District budget proposal.

 

P.E. REX SHIELD:

Launch of Community Aged Care Bus successful already raising $25,000 Rotary, $10,000 Bendigo Bank, Shamrock Hotel $1000, Business donation $5,000, donation $500, sale of honey $122, BBQ and O.J. $681. Total $42,264.10

 

P.P. LOU HAMON:
Art & Craft Exhibition has attracted 274 art entries, 42 photographic entries and 105 craft entries.
Volunteer roster will be sent out during the week, commencing with set up in Town Hall at 4pm Tuesday 8th March.
 
JULIE ANDREW:
Wayne Limbrick requested promotion of Break-out Dinner on March 24th at The Woolshed in aid of Shepparton Hospice. $100 per head covers 3 course meal and drinks.
 
P.P. CHRIS SUTTON:
Rotary Foundation Newsletter distributed. Rotary's 117th birthday.
 
Ritchie's IGA Fun Day on Sunday will donate proceeds to the Community Bus Project. Would appreciate Rotarians to attend between 12-2 to promote the project.
 

P.P. JUNE HEWSON:

Appreciated the warm welcome tonight. Thanks for support from club on the passing of Bill. Special thanks to the gardening team led by Rex.

Art Show raffle tickets selling well. Please return sold books next Monday.

Something tells me I need to lose some weight. During a recent trip to visit my son and his family, I stopped off at a bakery to pick up dessert. After scanning the display case, I settled on a dozen pound-cake cupcakes. The clerk’s pleasant response: “Is that for here or to go?”
