CLUB MEETING 27th MARCH 2023


PRESIDENT REX SHIELDS welcomed members and guests, Bec I'anson, Sue Church, Colin Steel.

 

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:

  • Attended Numurkah 150th Celebration meeting. Mark McNamara on steering committee.
  • Discussed youth programs with Cate Eddy, principal Numurkah Secondary College. - Monitoring a "Youth Men's Shed" with motor restoration. - Another program involving NSC youth in assisting painting tractors in park.
  • BBQ Saturday in park 9am - 12noon.
  • Next weeks meeting at David Hodge's property, Sampsons Road, to view collection of tractors and farm equipment.

 

CHAIR: P.P. STEPHEN MILLS.
Noted with previous career in Irrigation Mangement, dams are full and water prices low.
Other concern is health issues.
 
GUEST SPEAKER: BEC I'ANSON.
 

Bec I'Anson, counsellor with NCN Health spoke to the club.

Whilst undertaking a business administration course at RMIT, undertook a placement at the Heidelberg Magistrates Court, after three months offered a traineeship as Deputy Registrar involving the scheduling of the hearings and running the court.

Loved interaction with people, and the variety of people and issues.

Moved to Regional Victoria in Shepparton, as growing up in the country, wanted the country lifestyle for her young family.

Position involved supporting victims of violent crimes, ensuring rights and interests of victims was respected and protected.

Unfortunately, job involved long days and lots of time travelling.

Moved to Moira Shire as a youth worker, supporting youngsters in schools.

Has been with NCN Health for 10 years as a counsellor in the Community Health Centre, supporting clients with many issues, and filling a service gap, providing next step after doctor's consultation to help and achieve good health outcomes.

As a counsellor, listen more than talk, becoming a health and lifestyle coach.

In 2012 set up own business, which is developing and growing.

  • Update on Rotary Regionalisation Program
  • Numurkah Primary School seeking assistance in updating Memorial Gates.
  • Four students attending RYPEN.
 
TREASURER STEPHEN MILLS:
 
Bendigo Bank accounts had been attacked, now back to normal without loss.
 
 
P.P. KATE HODGE:
 
International report: Plan foster child in South Guyana, a 9-year-old primary school student who likes reading and writing.
Umoja Orphanage update, septic system upgraded, club sponsors a child who likes the animals.
 
 
P.P. CHRIS SUTTON:
 
  • Ride to Conference went well, supported by 10 clubs. 9 riders covered 210km in 3 days, with $8-9,000 raised for indigenous medical student support.
  • BBQ Thursday 13th April, Health Service Fair 11am - 2pm.
  • Art Show thanks to all members for support.
 
P.P. JOHN WATSON:
 
P.P. Ron Baker has passed away.
 
 
P.P. IVAN ROUTLEY:
 
4WD weekend trip capped at 30, hoping for fine weather. Clear instructions well received.
