  • Meeting the District Governor at Tocumwal on Sunday 18th August – Board are to meet with Stephen at 11am, all district club members are to be there at 12 (this was incorrectly recorded in the Bulletin)
  • A mention of the meeting with Nathalia Rotary on Friday which included 2 RI members from Sydney as well as 3 Nathalia Rotarians, please thank Steve and Rex for attending with me.
  • Board meeting after our Club Assembly on Monday 5th August.
  • Leanne Rawson attending our meeting 12th August to receive her award and be a dinner guest.
  • I have submitted our application form to District to be included in the training program for Club Excellence – discuss at Board re funding and participation.
Club Service Mark
  • 150th committeee have been successful in being granted $5000 from the Community Resilience Flood Recovery Fund (via Moira Shire). This is to be targeted towards our Heritage Day (Feb. 8th) 
  • Potential funding from Rotary to help with preliminary costs eg signage, publicity, securing Cobb & Co coach, etc. 
  • Cobb & Co have confirmed their booking and have also confirmed that they would be able to drive the coach down the main street as a lead up to the Showgrounds activities on Feb 8th. (They don't require police escorts, etc)

This week's speaker
Amelia Slater
 
Amelia has started a new business in Numurkah called Community Wellbeing and she works out of Vive Hairdressing. Amelia's business focuses on youth work, social work and community connectedness. She has over 20 years' experience in the industry
* Amelia is currently offering Mental Health support, NDIS support, workshops for schools, event support, counselling, family services, education support, consultation and neurodivergence support
* People's wellbeing is linked to their environment, family relationships and community engagement
* Amelia's passion is youth work and is big on human rights, justice and advocacy for her clients
* Amelia is an accredited social worker with a master's degree, and she is accredited with Youth Workers Australia, NDIS and the Australian Social Worker Association
* Being in a rural area she needs to be across a broad range of things because of the lack of access
* Amelia attended RYLA in her 20's and went on to become a supporter of RYLA as a helper for 4 years.
In her spare time, she likes to be creative by painting, gardening and designing her own custom programs for her clients
* Amelia's future plans are to collaborate with other people in the community to improve the whole community by opening an Op Shop, cafe which includes employment and training opportunities and have a youth hub.
* This would also involve being able to provide services for those who cannot afford it
