PRESIDENT'S REPORT:
Outstanding weekend with a well attended unveiling of the Soldier Settlers Memorial. BBQ cooked 350 sausages with $706 in donations towards the bus project. The Saturday afternoon unveiling, RSL afternoon tea, evening meal at the Shamrock Hotel, together with the Historical Display on the Sunday made it a very successful weekend.
Will be away for the next four weeks, need to roster President stand-ins and Chairman for the next 4 weeks.

Latest in classification of Irrigation Management, Go Farm has put 6,700 hectares, identified for almond farming, now on the market.
GUEST SPEAKER: Fr. JOE TAYLOR:
Fr Joe Taylor as a young priest volunteered to serve in Papua New Guinea. PNG close to Australia, was a Dutch Colony and German Colony, with Australia administrating from World War II for 60 years before PNG established its sovereignty in 1975.
Based in Southern Highlands, 2,700m high in rugged country. RAAF used area for high level landing and take-off training.
Population of 5M with 780 different languages with Pidgin the predominant language. Parliament is in three languages, Pidgin, English and Huli.
Job was to set up schools, whilst in PNG he set up four primary schools. Within PNG education is becoming more important with assistance of four Nuns literacy, nutrition and health are emphasised.
In the six years in PNG, Fr. Joe learnt about himself, what is important and what is not important.
Beautiful country, with population rapidly growing and western clothing being adopted.

Bus Project received two $500, one $100 donations, and $500 from RSL and $706 from BBQ. Total of $67,500.
P.P. LOU HAMON:
Received phone call from Lyn Mellady, Art Show Judge, enquiring about the show and asking for her appreciation of the hospitality offered by the club and it's members to be passed on, particularly Phil & Fiona Seager.
P.P. STEPHEN MILLS:
Weekend outstanding success with 368 in attendance and 100 attending dinner at the Shamrock on the Saturday night.
John Watson commented the project started 5 years ago, with Stephen Mills the driving force, assisted by the RSL and Historical Society doing a power of work.

The homework assignment for my Spanish class was to write a paragraph. When I returned their papers, I asked one student if he had used Google Translate or any other online translator to write his paper. He categorically denied doing so. That led to my next question: “Then why is this in French?”
