ANNUAL PROGRAMS FUND [APF]: USD 126,146.15
In US dollars, our total contribution to the Annual Programs Fund in 2020-21 was USD 126,146.15. This was an increase of over USD 20,600 on the previous year. Of the 63 Clubs in District 9790, on average 12 do not contribute to the Annual Programs Fund [19% of all Clubs]. In 2020-21, that figure rose to 17 Clubs or 27%. This was the highest number of APF non-contributory Clubs in the past eleven years and reflects the difficulties some Clubs had in their fundraising and a redirection in priorities given the COVID pandemic. Despite that impact, some Clubs significantly increased their giving.

STATEMENTS FROM ROTARY INTERNATIONAL ON AFGHANISTAN
Over the past three weeks, with the events that have seen the fall of the Afghan Government, the evacuation of tens of thousands from the country and a new government being installed by the Taliban, many Rotarians have expressed concern about the future of our Polio Eradication Initiative especially when ultimate success is so close.
“The polio program has always been politically neutral in every country. Rotary and our partners work with the leaders who are in charge. We now work with new leaders in Afghanistan. Rotary funds WHO and UNICEF. We do not send any funds to the governments nor to groups other than WHO and UNICEF. We monitor the spending they do on our behalf very closely. We have never been closer to eradicating polio in Afghanistan. We will continue to work with the Afghani people and our partners to finish what we began over 35 years ago."
Michael K. McGovern, Rotary International PolioPlus Committee Chair
