CLUB MEETING 15th MAY 2023


PRESIDENT REX SHIELDS welcomed members.

  • Australia Biggest Morning Tea organised by Lions Ladies on Thursday 25th May in RSL Hall at 10am, $10 per head. RSVP by 20th.
  • Three defibrillators to be installed for 24 hour public access, one each at the two pharmacies, one at the vets. Possibly a fourth at the cemetery, installed by the Cemetery Trust.
  • $1,000 donated to D.G. David McPherson project of Wheelchairs for the Handicapped.
  • Next week, Combined Service Club Dinner, organised by Lions at the Numurkah Bowls Club, $30 roving roast.

 

CHAIR: MICHELLE "SQUISH" DAVIS.
Employed 4 days a week at Verney Road School in Shepperton. Role is Music Therapy with social and emotional goal. Wednesday private practice.
 
GUEST SPEAKER: NICHELLE "SQUISH" DAVIS.
 

As the scheduled guest speaker cancelled, Squish, as chair for the meeting stepped in and challenged the club with a Sporcle Countries of the World Map Quiz.

Map of the world with 197 countries screened with the challenge to members to name as many countries as possible in 15 minutes.

 Geoff Holmes then Kate Hodge acting as scribe on the computer program.

The members were able to name 88 countries in the nominated time.

An enjoyable last minute fill in program.

JULIE ANDREW:

Julie requested assistance with information on the Community Service award recipient.

 

KATE HODGE:

Advised members that Rotarian Adrian Connally was in the G.V. Hospital COVID ward.

 

MARK McNAMARA:

Steam Rail Victoria had requested parts from the steam locomotive to be used in the restoration of an engine. Historical Society have agreed to the request as they are small parts not visible on the exterior.

Steam Rail Victoria are still working on a replacement headlight for the engine.

 

CHRIS SUTTON:

Attended Tocumwal Rotary Club meeting with Lorraine Greenwood. Tocumwal are proposing to run an Art Show as a community tourism event, and asked tor club for advice.

The return-to-work date had been changed to February 30.
