CLUB MEETING 2nd OCTOBER 2018


PRESIDENT STEPHEN MILLS welcomed members and guest speaker Paul Arnel.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:

 
Inspirational Person: June Hewson nominated Phil Meagher for his many years as secretary of this club and hid community work.
 
  • Contracts signed for Susan Alberti to be guest speaker for Business Breakfast.
  • Umoja Orphanage second home nearly complete.
  • Old Art Show shade cloth delivered to Numurkah Secondary College for garden project.
  • Movies at Numurkah Trivia Night on 2nd November.
  • Board supported Fishing Club Project for a jetty on the lake.
  • Next week at Learning Centre for Club Runner workshop.
  • Rotary Club of Nathalia Art Show 26th October.
  • Police walk for mental health started today.
  • Nominations open for Fairley Leadership Course.
  • Sally Rose to coordinate club activities for Foodbowl Festival.
  • Ivan Routley to coordinate our involvement with Lions Rotary project to repaint pavilion at cemetery.

GUEST SPEAKER: PAUL ARNEL

Paul Arnel, Principal St Joseph's Primary School and President of Numurkah Football Netball Club was guest speaker.

President of Numurkah Football Netball Club for six years with wife Jodie and five children involved in the club.

The club has 500 members and participants fielding 18 teams, providing opportunity for families to engage at a level of their choice

Football teams AusKick, Under 10, Under 12, 4th, 3rds, Reserve and Seniors.

Family orientated, perception of a boys club and grog shop wrong as club serves the community. With 11 netball teams and 7 football teams the club is female dominated. days of boys club has changed.

Club has a turnover of $300,000 to $400,000 with club striving to improve facilities with spin off a benefit to community. Plans to build a new netball facility, install new lighting and a car park.

Relationship good with community is good with club providing monetary and physical support to families in need.

Murray League looking to move into two divisions.

Culture and environment of club is to serve the community.

 

 

REPORTS

SECRETARY JENNIFER RODGER:

Club now has 30 of its 39 members with Working With Children Checks.

 

P.P. LOU HAMON:

With many new members President Steve has suggested a Club Runner workshop, which will be held next Monday at the Numurkah Learning Centre, Melville Street.

A brush up on our website and its many features and resources.

Please bring  laptop if you have one, although Learning Centre will have laptops available for those without so everyone has a hands on experience. 

Please bring partners if they are the computer savvy in your household.

Gary will arrange a pizza dinner for meeting, please reply to invitation for catering numbers.

For catering for next weeks meeting at Learning Centre please indicate attendance to invitation to be emailed.

 

A.G. CHRIS SUTTON:

Ride to Conference committee have produced a flyer.

 

GRANT DEPPLER:

Grant reported had first win in motor bike Endura Racing.

This is my first golf lesson

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson.
"Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?'' she asked the instructor.
"P-u-t-t is correct,'' he replied.
"Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."
