CLUB MEETING 17th AUGUST 2020

PRESIDENT JENNIFER RODGER welcomed members to an online zoom meeting.

 

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:

• Card received from Heather Jones thanking club for condolences on the passing of Earnest.
• Rural Drought Relief Program has distributed $50,000 of vouchers but only $17,000 redeemed.
• Balwyn North have received donation from Jeans West, consulting Duncan from Mensland.
• Participated in a RAWCS program meeting.

CHAIR: ROSS HARHAM:

Stopped working 2 years ago.

Miss seeing grandchildren during lockdown, particularly for their birthdays.

Sheep have increased to 11 or 12 - eating some shortly.

 

GUEST SPEAKER: VIRTUAL TOUR OF WERRIBEE OPEN RANGE ZOO.

Another innovative and entertaining meeting organised by President Jennifer.

A virtual tour of Werribee Open Range Zoo with our guide taking members on a drive through the park, describing the animals encountered.

Tour prompted much conversation from members regarding the animals later in the meeting.

Lady being supported by club with house renovations on-hold with COVID-19

Ivan reported apologies from Lorraine Greenwood, Marie & Geoff Austin.

20 in attendance 69.5%

 

 FELLOWSHIP:

Katrina reported Ivan & Jennifer Routley's 49th wedding anniversary 21st August.

I tried having my mother’s phone disconnected, but the customer-service rep told me that since the account was in my dad’s name, he’d have to be the one to put in the request. The fact that he’d been dead for 40 years didn’t sway her. Then a solution hit me: “If I stop paying the bill, you can turn off the service, right?” “Well, yes,” she said reluctantly. “But that would ruin his credit.”
