Steph Sparrow - Mutt Strut
  • Couple of years ago had the idea to start a dog walking club 'the mutt strut'
  • Starting a dog fostering shelter in 2019 by Tillia a cat lover
  • GV Pet adoption (GVPA)
  • No shelter on business address
  • All animals are placed into personal homes of volunteer foster careers
  • Steph is also a teacher at SMOTA
  • Steph has fostered 50 dogs since
  • GV PA is a not for profit, no government funding, only donations and grants
  • All fostered animals have no time limits
  • Some stay a couple of weeks, some 6 months
  • Potential new foster carers have to fill out a form and can choose what type of animal they are willing to choose to foster
  • Nathalia Boarding Kennels are an integral part of GVPA with assistance with doggie daycare and holidays
  • They supply a doggy daycare bus to pick up from carers
  • Consider joining as a foster carer or becoming an adoptee
  • There is an application process for potential adoptees to match potential
  • Costs are age related $700 for puppies, $500 for older than 5 yrs
  • Meet and greet at property of new home is essential
  • Vet bills are covered by the shelter and large dog food companies supply dog food for the foster carers

  • Welcomed guests Mark and guest speaker Steph Sparrow and Judy's grand daughter Madison and past member Wilma
  • President Linda presented John Shrimpton a cheque to CFA for $419 from proceeds from the Family Funday last Saturday for the upcoming Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal
  • A big thanks to Steve, Rex, Judy and Ivan for manning the BBQ
  • ANZAC Day breakfast getting organised with volunteers
  • Ride to Conference - Chris Sutton received the Sportswoman's Award for 5 years of service in organising the Ride to Conference
  • The Good Friday Appeal is looking for volunteers at CFA shed from 9 am to rattle tins around town
  • Was very motivated by attending the District Conference and the presentations were excellent - next year the conference is in Melbourne at Pentridge Jail

  • Went off farm and married and fruit picked
  • Went to Uni and studied nursing
  • Been at GV Health for 25 years
  • Met Mark husband 2010, 2 x dogs, 8 chooks

  • Looking for volunteers for DG nominations District
Treasurer Steve
  • Board agreed to fund the Cobram Quilters $500 for a new PA system
  • Move to have a second float for the club to be kept at Jeff's as a backup $200
  • Support the community of Western QLD for $2000 for the Rotary Appeal
  • Raised $520 at the Sidebottom BBQ
  • Taking orders for new T-Shirts or a jacket badged in by Wednesday
 
 
Community Service
 
  • Loaded up 18 pallets last week and then another 12 pallets today of batteries got a price of $700/ ton = $10080 
  • Collected over 2 years
  • A big thank you to all those that have helped over the time
  • Looking for another Rotarian to take over with providing a place to collect them again as Geoff and Fay moving into town

  • went to the Historical Society to represent Rotary at the Time Capsule community meeting
  • Agreed to commit to jointly brand the distribution of envelopes 
  • Envelopes small $5, medium $10 and large $20
  • Envelopes to be filled and returned by 25th October
  • To be buried in November
  • Steve Holmes repairing well and making it above ground with a new plaque

  • 17th year of Ride to Conference
  • Australian Rotary Health the current recipient of money for $2500 healthcare scholarships
  • 2019 Chris/Numurkah Rotary has taken over the running of the ride
  • 2025 looks like it raised $11500 this year, to date $151,700 raised for Australian Rotary Health
