Dual national champion in professional cycling spoke to members and guest at the Rotary Club of Numurkah meeting on 27th April.

Born in Nathalia, Carla had a passion for sport but no interest in cycling.

Achieved a scholarship with Queensland Academy of Sport in 2005. After 12 months advised to give up running and concentrate on cycling.

After six months went to Europe to race. Within a year signed professionally and moved from Italy to Switzerland to join the worlds number one team.

In 2009 won both National titles. Raced well in world's number one team, but in 2010 Garmin decided to only sponsor a mens team. A Dutch team took the majority of the girls.

Spent last year with an Italian team.

Many highs and lows, retiring after having a good career.

Been a member of many teams, but have had an amazing career.

Her future includes finishing Bachelor of Business, Sports Management at Deakin University.

Now living in Spain with partner.

Hell of a journey over 10 years, looking forward to next stage of her life.
