The joint event “We remember them and salute their service” attracted a large crowd of over 1000 who were keen to witness the unveiling of the “Saluting their Service” wall art mural and associated booklet launch and the “Numurkah Mob” memorial dedication.

A BBQ lunch and afternoon tea were part of the event.

Both ceremonies had a formal program with distinguished guests participating.

The preparation and research involved in both projects extended over a long period of time as information had to be carefully and meticulously assembled. A small number of volunteers from both organisations spent many hours in meetings; planning, classifying information, negotiating design, seeking funding and promoting the projects through attendance at many community groups.

The September 7th event was the culmination of a complex and sustained cooperative effort which engendered great community pride.

The event was the largest of its kind in the Numurkah community in past years.
