Emily Trewin addressed the club on March 24th after returning home after 12 months in Taiwan as an exchange student.
Presenting a polished pictorial record of her experiences Emily spoke on the hospitality of her host families and the Rotary Club.
Culture shock: Role of men (patriarchal), students dedication to study and food were all notable as cultural differences.
Schooling begins at 7.30 am until 4 or 5, followed by "cram school". First step in learning a new language was a pocket dictionary then onto University.
As a club we were fortunate to have such an excellent ambassador for the club and Australia.
Summing up Emily said it was the best year of her life and thanked the Rotary Club for sponsoring and supporting her.
Emily concluded by quoting "Isn't just a year in a life, it is a life in a year".
