Members assembled at St Joseph Primary School and were meet by Principal Paul Arnel
Paul gave members a very informative firsthand look at all areas of the school which was first established in 1890 by Blessed Mary Mackillop and the Sister of St. Joseph- the first Victorian school Mary Mackillop established.
The recent additions and refurbishments provide  a modern, safe and stimulating environment that reflects teaching and learning in the 21st Century. They have tried to  keep the best of the old but not be  afraid to be innovative and creative in doing what’s best for the children with flexible learning areas providing students and teachers with many options.  The school currently has 267 students, with 2015 having its largest enrollment yet of 272 students.  Classes in the Preps, now called Foundations sit at 20 pupils, and 23 pupils in middle and senior classes areas.
Members also toured the old Convent , now known as MacKillop House which was developed as a joint school parish development in 2010.  The House now has offices space,  a Chapel, provides an area for music classes for school students during the day, as well as a  Before and After School Care Programs .  The Numurkah Preschool also recently used the facility during its refurbishment.
Next year 2015, St. Joseph will have been established  125 years and celebrations for  this event are planned for October 17 & 18th .
