IVAN ROUTLEY'S SOUTH AFRICAN TRIP

Rotarian Ivan Routley spoke to the club about his attendance at the 12th World Processed Deciduous Fruit Conference in Stellenbosch South Africa.

Ivan illustrated his talk with picturesque photos taken of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Table Mountain, and also shanty towns and game parks.

Ivan stated 6,000 a month are moving into shanty towns from neighboring depressed countries.

Average wage for an orchard hand is equivalent to $15 a day, for an eight hour day, equating to our hourly rate.

South Africa has 24% unemployment, with 50% youth unemployment.
